Well socialized puppies handle
all methods of shipping very well,
but we understand that some families
are aprehensive about shipping their
new family companion by airline.
The United States Department of
Agriculture and the International
Air Transport Association govern air
travel for all pets. The guidelines
that must be observed are as follows:
The puppy should be at least eight
weeks of age and fully weaned.
The puppy must have a veterinary
examination and obtain a health
certificate for shipping stating
he or she is in excellent health.
The travel crate must be large
enough to allow a one inch clearance
while the puppy is sitting down,
and be wide enough to enable it to
turn freely and lay down comfortably.
The crate must be marked - "This Side
Up - Live Animal" along with the last
time the puppy was fed and watered. It
must also clearly state the names,
addresses and phone numbers of both the
shipper and the reciever.
It is required that the airline keep
the shipping compartment at a comfortable
temperature between 70 and 55 degrees and
be correctly pressurized.
During any lay over the puppy can not
be left on the runway or any open outdoor
area longer than 10 minutes.
Airlines will not accept animals for
shipping when temperatures are forecasted
to reach over 85 degrees at any ground
location during air travel.
Employees are required to check the
status of your puppy every time the
shipping crate is handled and to offer
optional food and water according to
the directions provided by shipper.
Though it is not required, the airline
offers insurance that is available at a
very low fee. We do require the purchase
of this insurance at the time of shipping.
Our puppies have been placed in 42
states as well as several other countries.
If you are interested in a Coldwater
puppy, but you are concerned that you
live too far away there are many safe
shipping options available.
Please scroll down to view information
concerning airline shipping and personal
ground transportation, as well as the
fees that go along with these methods.
We care deeply about our babies and want
to make sure that your family is confident
that the method of shipping you choose is
safe, secure and as stress free as possible
for you and your new family member.

Airline Shipping -
We normally use Northewest, Delta and American for our shipping needs. They have given us superb
service and have been kind, attentive and caring in every shipping situation. The fees do vary
depending on where you are located and which airline is used, but airline shipping usually runs from
$190.00 - $240.00 using either their cargo or counter to counter services.
We do offer to accompany your puppy during airline transportation, bringing him or her on board with
us as carry-on baggage. This ensures constant supervision, the ability to be out of the crate as well
as have frequent drinks, be able to play with toys and be secure in the lap of the chaperone. This is
available at the price of a coach round trip ticket for the chaperone as well as an additional fee for
delivery. This fee depends on where in the world we will be traveling.
Most of the time the shipping charge can be paid for when you pick up your puppy, but that is not
the case all of the time. The best rates are usually obtained by paying the shipping fee in advance.
If you do plan on paying for your puppy when it arrives they normally do not accept cash.
In order to use airline shipping services the puppy must visit our veterinarian to obtain a health
certificate. This certificate is good for ten days from the date of issue and usually includes a letter
of acclimation stating that the puppy can travel safely within a certain temperature range. The fee
for this health certificate is $40.00 (a receipt will be provided).
A plastic crate that is approved for airline transportation is required. It needs to be large enough
for your puppy to be comfortable and stretch out during the long trip. We recommend a medium sized crate
which we can purchase locally at a fee of around $65.00 (a receipt will be provided).
Delivery to the airport is free of charge when we are able to ship out of Albemarle Airport located in
Charlottesville Virginia. Other airports are available at a fee due to the extensive driving time. We
offer delivery to Richmond International Airport or Washington Dulles International Airport at a rate
of $50.00 and Baltimore-Washington International Airport at a rate of $75.00.
When shipping by airline we feed a light meal three hours before departure to ensure plenty of time for
digestion and elimination. We offer water for the last time at the time of drop off and supply a bowl
that can easily be filled with specific instructions to water the baby during any lay overs.
Our crates our lined with shredded newspaper only. Unlike towels and other standard forms of bedding,
newspaper is easily passed if swallowed. For safety reasons we do not allow collars on our puppies or
provide then with any toys. Though we would love to provide these items we feel that are a safety risk.
When picking up your new puppy please bring a leash for safety, a dish and bottled water to provide a
drink as soon as possible. I would also recommend bringning more newspaper, paper towels, some disinfectant
spray, baby wipes and a trash bag just in case there is need for some cleaning up. You may also want to
bring a blanket or a few towels if you plan on holding the puppy on your lap for the ride home. Toys are
always a good idea as well as long as the puppy is supervised during the commute.
Personal Delivery -
If you are unable to pick your puppy up or would prefer personal deiverly we are happy to drive your puppy to
you no matter where you live or meet you any where along the way. With constant supervision this will ensure
that your puppy is safe, comfortable and as stress free as possible. Our fee for delivery is only charged one
way at a rate of $15.00 per every half hour of driving. For every ten hours of driving time to your location
we must charge an additional $75.00 charge for a hotel stay.
